A must-see in Stockholm: Vasa and Viking Museum

A 15 minutes bus drive will bring us to Djurgården, where we will enjoy a traditional Swedish lunch.

After lunch and having split into smaller groups we start our guided tour through the famous Vasa Museum

The Vasa sank off Stockholm in 1628 on its maiden voyage. After 333 years at the bottom of the sea, the imposing warship was salvaged and embarked on a new journey. Today, the Vasa is the best-preserved ship from the 17th century and can be admired in Stockholm in a museum built especially for it. This unique cultural treasure comprises 98 per cent of the original parts, including hundreds of artistically carved wooden sculptures.
In addition to the ship, the Vasa Museum also houses various exhibitions on the short but extensive history of the Vasa.

A short walk passing the 'Spritmuseum' will bring us to the second spot, the Viking Museum.

The Viking Museum in Stockholm provides an in-depth introduction to the Viking era, told in innovative and interactive ways. Explore the Viking Age through guided tours, live demonstrations of historical crafts, immersive reconstructions of Viking Age life and a narrated story ride, as well as archaeological objects.

After bus transfer your arrival back at the hotel is scheduled for approx. 6:30 pm.

Walking Old Town Stockholm

We visit Stockholm’s oldest and most charming quarter 'Gamla Stan'.

The guide picks you up at the hotel and walks with you to the Old Town. Along the way, you will discover some of the city’s main landmarks, such as the Parliament Building and the Royal Opera.
The historic elegance of the imposing Royal Palace contrasts beautifully with the narrow, winding alleys and cobblestone streets at its base. As you stroll through these small streets, it is easy to imagine yourself back in medieval times—this district is a living historical monument of international renown.

As you wander with your guide, you can take in the bohemian atmosphere and the deep sense of history reflected in the houses from the 15th and 16th centuries, with their baroque doorways and weathered coats of arms.

Among the highlights, you will see the Great Square (Stortorget)—the heart of the Old Town—where the former Stock Exchange building now houses the Swedish Academy. You will also visit the narrowest street in Stockholm, Mårten Trotzigs Gränd.

The walk continues past Stockholm Cathedral, dating back to 1279. Next to the Cathedral, your guide will share more about the impressive Royal Palace with its more than 600 rooms.
Discover the busiest shopping street, Västerlånggatan and the impressive tower of the German church with entire 96 meters.
The tour ends at the café and restaurant 'Grillska Huset' at the Great Square.
